The IS Support Specialist (COBOL) is a technical specialist in one of the areas including but not limited to middleware and/or web technologies, and serves as a technical resource for Ingram Micro's applications support providing high quality support to our customer base. The individual must have the ability to multi-task, be creative, innovative, flexible and organized. The individual must possess a strong relevant background in supply chain and logistics applications and is prepared to be involved in all facets of support. The individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a high-energy, goal-oriented team environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Relevant Science and Math disciplines with an IT emphasis is required.
Minimum of 3-7 years of technical experience, with at least 4 years of experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, DB2 applications or Master's degree plus 2-5 years technical experience.
Hands on experience in Mainframe applications development and support is required (i.e. IBM utilities, TSO, etc.)
Capability of supporting/developing/programming new or modifying existing COBOL, CICS/BATCH programs of high complexity.
Thorough knowledge of VSAM, DB2, and IMS Database platforms.
Knowledge and experience with IBM and other third party utilities, such as Expeditor, File Aid, AbendAid, SPUFI, Endeavor, etc. or equivalents.
Required to assist in system development.
IBM Mainframe MVS JCL, including IBM utilities.
This job also requires effective verbal and written communication skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office, MS Visio, MS project, and MS Excel.
Knowledge of Sterling Commerce's Gentran Basic and Connect Enterprise is preferred.
Designs, develops, maintains, and supports ANSI X12 EDI mapping of data using Gentran.
Proficiency on B2B/EDI concepts, ANSI/EDIFACT standards.
